TARHEEL 5K AND FUN RUN
SPONSORING STATESVILLE IREDELL SCHOOL
EAST ELEMENTARY CHILDREN IN NEED

Hello everyone!  We are on our way to our very first 5K and Fun Run to be held this November 8, 2008 at 8:00 am.  This spectacular race will be held at the Tarheel Realty II office and will have entertainment, food, sponsor tables, music and lots of fun.  Please come out to run, walk or just cheer us on.  All proceeds for this event will be donated to the East Elementary School children cafeteria fund to support those children who do not have funds to purchase their lunches.   It has come to our attention that many children do not get the opportunity for free and reduced lunches due to unforseen family circumstances.  We at Tarheel Realty II cannot imagine our own children going all day without food in their tummies to help them concentrate and keep up with the demanding pace of the day.   It is our goal to provide  the funds to keep these children fed and to donate funds for other needs as well, i.e.; hygeine products, school supplies, coats, clothing etc.   Donations are accepted and appreciated.  Sponsorships cover costs for the run as well as contribute to the needs of the children.  Sponsorships are $250 and $150, please call for more info:  704-902-7345.  If you cannot sponsor, that is ok, any small donation will help.  Best yet, come out and join us for a morning of exercise and fun.  Remember, you don't have to run to have fun or finish the course.  You can sign-up just to walk. Please sign up ahead of time at Activezach.com.  If you forget, come anyway and sign up that morning.  Same day race sign ups start at 7:00 am.   Cost for pre-race day is $15.00, same day is $20.00.  We hope to see you there!

TARHEEL REALTY II SPONSORED BALLOON EVENT
AT STATESVILLE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Tarheel Realty II and BB&T are in the game!  Today we had a great time at one of the private schools here in Statesville.   We sponsored an educational balloon event for the school for the elementary and middle schools at Statesville Christian School on heat transfer.   The hands on experience was unbelieveable.  The children filed out onto the field at 8:15 am all excited, barely able to contain their enthusiasm as the balloon team unfolded the 40 foot BB&T balloon onto th soccer field.  Pilots Sean Askren, Kevin Flanagan and Marcia Treacy were wonderful handling the balloon in slight winds while keeping it from toppling onto the children, as we realtors and a few teachers held onto the basket to keep it landed.   The wind picked up slightly and blew the balloon towards the children and they all squilled and ran for the sidelines, but the pilots were quick, fired the burners and lifted the balloon just in time.   Of course the children all tried to touch it as it was just out of their reach.  Needless to say, they all had a wonderful time.

Once the balloon was fully inflated the kids were able to walk up to the basket and look inside as the pilot, Sean Askren, explained how everything operated.   Afterwards the pilots talked about heat transfer, and took questions from the students.  There were a lot of very good questions to be answered.   I was quite impressed with what a great education these kids are getting and how much they already knew.  I think this will be an experience they will remember for quite some time.  We were glad to be a part of this event and thank Stephanie Gill, a science teacher at Statesville Christian School for inviting us there to bring the balloon.

The Broker in Charge and owner of Tarheel Realty II helped to make this possible by calling Charles Sandridge of BB&T, both of whose children attend the school.  Charles was able to coordinate with me and the pilot to have the balloon at the school.  Without their help this would not have been possible.  Thank you Charles and Suzanne.  A big thanks to the Pilots, Sean and Kevin, for traveling such a great distance to bring the balloon and to Marcia Treacy, a pilot from Statesville, for being on hand to help.  Thanks to the realtors and employees of Tarheel Realty II on hand to help with this event, Brent Mason, Michelle Welch, Suzanne Osborne.   This was truly a great group of people from different businesses in the area coming together for an awesome community event.

TARHEEL REALTY II 5K FUN RUN

Tarheel Realty II will hold it's first annual 5k Fun Run this fall.  Watch for information on a date and time for this 5k.  Don't miss this oppurtunity to participate in local training for marathon's and half-marathons.   Proceeds for this 5k will be donated to local charities.  Training will begin August 23 on Crawford Road at the Tarheel Realty II building each Saturday morning at 7:30.

On race day bring your chairs to sit on the sidelines and cheer for our runners!   Music, clapping, and shouts of encouragement will be greatly appreciated.  Participation is greatly encourgaged.  Mothers, fathers, and children over 6 can all participate in this fun run.  We will have food, drinks, sponsor tables from local vendors, goodie bags, music, and lots of fun!  Online registration will be coming soon.

Tarheel Realty II Realtor, Sherry Mills, has been helping sellers and buyers in the area for over 11 years.  This is the first Real Estate sponsored 5k in the area that I have seen.  We are working to support the local charities for the betterment of our community.  Sherry feels that to grow a strong community residents need to work together and play together.  Families need something fun to look forward to that are good wholesome activities where the whole family can participate.  That is one of the reasons I worked with Statesville Christian School and BB&T to bring the Balloon Event to the school.  This 5k Fun Run will be another exciting event that the residents of Statesville will be able to enjoy.  This is a great opportunity to run or walk with your neighbor or family while training and getting in shape, but also a great time to have some fun!

Here's hoping to see you on August 23, 2008 for our first day of training for that special 5k Fun Run sponsored by Tarheel Realty II.
